What You’ll Learn
During the course, participants gain a solid theoretical foundation and their first essential hands-on experience with barista equipment.
Theoretical Modules
The training covers all the key topics every professional barista needs to know:
- Differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee varieties
- Principles of storage and preserving coffee freshness
- Roast levels and how they affect flavor
- Cupping and tasting to understand flavor differences
- Introduction to bar equipment, types, and key terminology
- Workstation setup and organization
- Espresso extraction principles
- Espresso-based recipes (espresso, lungo, macchiato, etc.)
- Milk composition and factors affecting texture
- Steaming and pouring techniques
- Cappuccino ratio and proper serving methods
- Health & Safety principles in the workplace
- Cleaning routines and efficient bar management
Hands-On Practice
Beyond theory, participants will gain practical experience with both the grinder and the espresso machine.
You will learn how to:
- Correctly adjust the grinder,
- Prepare basic espresso-based beverages,
- Apply the techniques you’ve learned in practice.
While the course does not include a practical exam, your recipe execution will be evaluated, and personalized feedback will be provided to help you improve your skills.
SCA Certification
After completing the course, participants will take an online test of 20 questions on the official SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) platform.
A minimum passing score of 60% is required to successfully complete the course.
Upon passing, you will receive the official SCA Barista Skills Foundation Certificate — an important milestone in your professional coffee journey.
